UniProtKB description: Present in the aqueous fluid surrounding olfactory sensory dendrites and are thought to aid in the capture and transport of hydrophobic odorants into and through this fluid (Probable). Binds N-phenyl-1-naphthylamine, menthol, citronellal, 1-dodecanol, decanal, p-tert-butylbenzophenone, 4-hydroxy-4'-isopropylazobenzene, 2-pyrrolyl-p-methyl-azobenzene and indole (PubMed:20957509). Expressed in mosquito head but barely detectable in antennae, which suggests that it may be present in mouth structures, such as palpi and proboscis, and may have a function in taste (PubMed:20957509).
